How to Make a Logo Look Great on Any Type of Fabric

The truth is, logos don't automatically behave the same on every type of merch.
What looks sharp on a website might blur, crack, or warp once it hits a hoodie or performance tee.

At FCE, we think about three things when adapting a logo for apparel: fabric, ink method, and size.

Different materials hold ink differently. Cotton gives crisp, bold lines. Poly blends might need different treatments to prevent ink from sinking or shifting. Performance wear requires inks that stretch and move without cracking.

It’s not just about "shrinking down the logo" either.
Small lettering might disappear on textured fleece. Thin lines might bleed on certain fabrics. That’s why we often recommend slightly bolder lines or adjusted layouts for specific garments—subtle tweaks that make a huge visual difference.

One client brought us a gorgeous, intricate mark perfect for business cards—but impossible to embroider cleanly. We helped them develop a simplified version for apparel that kept the soul of their brand intact.

Great merch doesn’t distort your identity.
It strengthens it—because it shows you care about the details.
